Marina Calanova (Mallorca)

The Calanova National Sailing School is located in the bay of Palma. Its construction dates back to the 70s, although since then it has undergone several extensions and reforms. In 2013, the Balearic Government put the indirect management of the Port out to tender through a public tender, resulting in the project drawn up by TP&E being the winner.

The main objective of the project is to reduce the high internal agitation and to optimize the resulting water mirror. For this purpose, the old shelter dam was extended in L (15 + 62 m.) with a new breakwater layer. Likewise, the counter-dam was modified in order to collaborate in the mitigation of internal agitation. The works carried out between 2015 and 2016 have meant a global improvement of the marina by increasing the existing dry dock and expanding up to 4 m width two pontoons demolishing the existing third. The resulting water mirror has allowed the configuration of 172 moorings with lengths between 4 and 25 m. as well as a dry marina with a capacity for 20 boats up to 8 m. in length.
